Building the resources Scotland's founders actually need

CodeBase has spent over a decade building the infrastructure that lets Scotland's startup economy grow on its own terms. We work closely with founders, and we treat that support as something worth engineering with real care.

That's the thinking behind Techscaler, the Scottish Government's national startup programme, which we deliver on the ground. And it's the thinking behind two new cohorts we're opening applications for from 10th August: Catalyst and our third cohort to Singapore.

Catalyst: the foundations, done properly

Plenty of founders are already putting in the hours, often well past 8 a week, but hours alone don't build a business. Catalyst is a 9-week, live-delivery programme built for exactly that gap.

  • 8 core workshops, three hours each
  • Delivered mostly online, with two in-person sessions in Edinburgh and Stirling

It takes founders through the sequence that truly matters: understanding customers properly through Jobs-to-Be-Done, running experiments that test assumptions, building a real prototype, learning to acquire early customers without burning cash, and using AI tools to move faster through all of it.

Open to any sector, this cohort of 60 runs through to 24th November, with a demo day on 29th October where founders pitch to investors, mentors, and the wider ecosystem we've spent over a decade building. What founders walk away with is clarity on their next move, backed by real validation. That's what growth readiness actually looks like.

Singapore: proof that Scotland's ecosystem reaches further

For founders in Medtech, Healthtech, Biotech, or Life Sciences already eyeing Asia, this is our third cohort into Singapore, timed to land alongside SWITCH, Singapore's Week of Innovation and Technology. Two weeks on the ground, from 24th October to 7th November.

Just ten founders and senior leaders make the trip where week one puts them inside SWITCH itself, meeting the investors, partners, and buyers shaping that market. While week two is self-led, built around whatever relationships each founder has identified as worth chasing. Techscaler covers flights, hotel, workspace, and mentorship, because we want founders walking in with the best possible environment to succeed.

This is what an ecosystem architect does differently. We don't just support founders locally. We build the routes that let ambition compete internationally, and we put our own resources behind making sure founders can walk through the door.

Two programmes, one operating principle

Whether a founder is laying foundations or opening a door into Southeast Asia, our role stays the same: curate the resources, remove the friction, and back founders who are ready to move.
