Who are we?
CodeBase is a tech ecosystem support organisation and startup incubator that helps people build better tech startups. We help people build and grow better tech startups through community, education, and workspace.
CodeBase has created and delivers startup programmes for a number of organisations including the Scottish Government, the UK Government, Local Authorities and large corporations. We promote and facilitate collaboration in tech innovation by working with startups, scaleups, corporates, governments, academia, investors and the third sector. CodeBase also delivers scaleup and corporate programmes across industry verticals such as law, health and energy, which connect and educate corporates, startups and scaleups.

CodeBase offers flexible workspace (hotdesking, coworking and office space), delivers expert accelerator and mentorship programmes, hosts a peer-led community for people in the startup ecosystem to meet and connect with each other, and delivers a wide range of collaborative industry-startup bridge programmes.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced Operations leader with a background across a range of business operations functions to join CodeBase. You’ll enjoy working in a fast changing environment, be able to delegate effectively, and be comfortable both solving problems at a strategic level and being hands on in the delivery of projects that will provide the biggest impact to the business.
This would be well suited to someone who has experience as part of a larger operational team, has demonstrated leadership capabilities and wants to hone these capabilities in an exciting environment. We are open to applications from candidates at Head of and VP level (job title and salary will be dependent on experience).
Our Head of/VP Operations will be responsible for the Finance, IT, Building, and Corporate Operations functions of CodeBase, managing a team of subject experts in delivering these business critical functions. You will work with our Leadership team, managers, and colleagues across the business to ensure we have robust processes in place to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the business, as well as management of critical business functions.
What will you be doing?
- Acting as deputy to the SVP of Operations
- Owning operational delivery across buildings, IT and internal processes, leading day-to-day operations (to include areas such as IT, buildings, and procurement) and overseeing Ops team meetings
- Holding budget authority for operational spend; preparing budgets for sign-off by the SVP of Operations and the Head of Finance
- Coordinating ad-hoc special projects as delegated by the SVP of Operations
- Acting as an escalation point for risks and issues
- Line managing an Operations Manager, Buildings Operations Manager and IT Manager
- Overseeing insurance and vendor management with a focus on value and compliance
- Sense checking supplier contracts up to a set financial and risk level.
What do we need from you?
- Senior operations leadership experience, you’ll ideally have experience in at least 2-3 of the following areas: overseeing an IT function, building operations function, ongoing purchasing, and day to day legal queries.
- Budget ownership experience
- Understanding of standard financial statements
- Experience of reviewing contracts (e.g. supplier contracts, grant agreements, non-disclosure agreements, etc.)
- Vendor management experience
- Cross-functional project delivery experience
- People leadership and stakeholder management experience

What will you get?
- £60k - £75k per annum depending on experience
- 4 day working week (please note that this role will require out of hours working from time to time for which you will receive time off in lieu)
- 23 days holiday + 2 weeks off over Christmas and New Year

About the job
Work Days: This role is 28 hours a week over 4 days (Tuesday - Friday preferred but can discuss other patterns if required), 9am - 5pm
