Lexidesk is an AI company that helps law firms manage client intake. Founded by Ivan Tryskyba, it addresses two problems that many firms share: missed calls, and time spent speaking with unqualified enquirers. An AI agent on the phone and a matching website widget ensure that every enquiry is picked up and that qualified leads become consultations with a lawyer.
Ivan began with CaseGuru, a legal services marketplace, before he recognised that part of what the team had built already solved intake. An implementation team working alongside the developers tailors the technology to each firm, which Ivan sees as a competitive advantage as more AI tools emerge.
Ivan's route into Scotland's startup community came through Techscaler, delivered by CodeBase on behalf of the Scottish Government. In June 2026, Lexidesk's Chief Revenue Officer, Nikita Bezotosnyi, joined Techscaler's New York cohort, where he met customers and moved a pilot forward.
This is a case study on following market pull and using the right support to reach an overseas market from Scotland.
The story began with CaseGuru, a marketplace for legal services. The team learned that legal work travels through referrals, and that part of what they had built already did the job Lexidesk would later do. Built from Ivan's first-hand experience of navigating legal services, the technology found its audience when the team began selling directly to law firms.
Momentum arrived in the US, where a firm found Lexidesk through ChatGPT when its web presence was a single landing page. That person, who had tried other solutions to the same problem, became an advocate and spoke about Lexidesk at a major legal technology conference, generating around substantial recurring monthly revenue.

Before joining Techscaler, Ivan was building a purposeful product in a Scottish ecosystem that was still new to him. His priority was to meet more people, especially founders one or two steps ahead who had faced the questions he was working through. As a technically minded founder, he was developing sales and marketing experience by doing and by seeking advice from people in similar spaces.
Most of Lexidesk's customers were in the US while its home base was in Scotland, which raised the question of how to meet them in person. Ivan saw Techscaler as a good place to availing relevant resources for their growth.

Ivan first heard about Techscaler through the Scottish startup community and joined to meet more founders and understand the local ecosystem. He completed Startup Next Steps (Now Catalyst) and drew on the wider network, including a one-to-one session with Andrew, an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Techscaler community, whose knowledge of marketplaces helped Ivan decide against a planned investment in the business. Events connected to Techscaler opened pitching opportunities he would otherwise not have had. Throughout, Ivan valued learning from founders one or two steps ahead, because they had faced the same problems and solved them.

Lexidesk joined Techscaler's New York cohort in June 2026, alongside a16z Tech Week, with its founder in Scotland and its Chief Revenue Officer on the ground. Ivan took part in a pre-departure session, and he and Nikita agreed two priorities: meeting existing customers first, then arranging meetings with law firm owners in New York through LinkedIn outreach. With the plan set, Nikita carried it out while the Techscaler and CodeBase team offered practical guidance whenever questions arose.
He attended Techscaler's Spotlight on Scotland event and a gathering at a leading US exchange's New York office, filled with accomplished founders and senior executives. The team's approach to new contacts was to build rapport first and schedule follow-up calls after returning home.
The New York cohort gave Lexidesk a clear return, with Nikita reporting that the trip brought "valuable market insight, new connections, and momentum." He also met two lawyers named among the US's 100 best, both keen to see what Lexidesk builds and to move forward. The team produced a customer case study video during the trip, now on the Lexidesk website and helping to win new customers. Ivan believes helping existing customers succeed leads to referrals, which convert best.
Looking ahead, Ivan is targeting fivefold revenue growth within a year and building a full-time team around KPIs. Lexidesk plans to serve English-speaking markets, from the US, Canada and the UK to Australia and New Zealand, with the same products and market-specific marketing and sales. Today the team leads with its phone product in the US and its web widget in the UK.
Ivan advises founders to find one customer and build something excellent for them, because similar customers tend to follow. He also encourages testing different markets before pivoting, since one product can suit some markets better than others.
For Ivan, Techscaler offered a free way to understand the Scottish startup ecosystem quickly. Lexidesk's story shows what early support can unlock when it is tailored to the founder and globally connected.
