Full Episode Description

In this episode of Ideas to Impact, host Sally speaks with Natalie Garry, founder and CEO of danceSing, a digital wellness company delivering transformative solutions to the care sector through evidence-based music and movement programmes.

Natalie shares her journey from a career in professional ballet to becoming a tech-enabled health and wellbeing entrepreneur. After leaving the dance world due to injury, she channeled her passion for performance and movement into a scalable business focused on improving health outcomes for older adults. DanceSing was initially launched as a series of in-person wellbeing classes, but has since grown into a fully digital platform serving care homes, individuals, and corporate clients across the UK and now the United States.

The discussion explores how danceSing quickly pivoted during the COVID-19 pandemic, transitioning to an online delivery model in just four hours and reaching thousands of users globally. Natalie explains how this rapid adaptation not only safeguarded the business, but also positioned it for long-term growth in the digital health space. She shares how research partnerships with the University of Stirling and the Scottish Government provided the credibility and impact data needed to scale sustainably and attract new markets.

Key topics include the challenges and opportunities of integrating technology into the care sector, the importance of evidence in building trust and adoption, and the role of music and movement in reducing depression, loneliness, and medication dependency among older adults. Natalie also provides insight into danceSing’s successful expansion into the US, including how strategic outreach and in-market validation during a visit to Silicon Valley helped secure early clients and reshape the company’s growth trajectory.

Natalie’s story highlights the power of blending creativity, science, and business to drive meaningful innovation in one of society’s most urgent and underserved sectors.
