Head of Growth Stage
Who are we?
CodeBase is a tech ecosystem support organisation and startup incubator and accelerator that helps people build and grow better tech startups through community, education and workspace.
We deliver startup and scaleup support for organisations including the Scottish Government, UK Government, local authorities and large corporations, working across the ecosystem with founders, investors, corporates, academia, government and the third sector.
At the heart of what we do is a simple ambition: to help founders build better businesses.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for an experienced Head of Growth Stage to lead how CodeBase supports ambitious technology companies through one of the most important transitions in their growth.
At Growth Stage, a company may have demonstrated traction and found a route to market, but what got it here won’t necessarily get it to the next stage. Founder-led sales need to become repeatable and scalable. Teams and leadership structures need to mature. Capital decisions become more complex. And the founder needs to build a business that can increasingly operate without them being involved in every decision.
Your job will be to make sure CodeBase provides exceptional support through that transition.
This is a senior role with responsibility for shaping and leading our Growth Stage offering across multiple programmes and contracts. You’ll understand what Growth-stage founders need, build trusted relationships with them and use those insights to continually improve the support we provide.
We’re looking for someone who has been a founder themselves and has first-hand experience of navigating the Growth stage of a high-growth technology business. You’ll bring the credibility that comes from having built and scaled a company, alongside significant experience working with founders and leadership teams.
You’ll work closely with our Entrepreneurs in Residence (EIRs), mentors, investors, partners and wider Business Acceleration Team to connect founders with the right expertise and opportunities at the right moment.
You’ll need to move comfortably between founders, strategy and delivery — understanding the challenges facing an ambitious founder, while also turning those insights into services and interventions that can support a wider portfolio of companies.
What will you be doing?
- Own and evolve our Growth Stage offering, setting the strategy for how CodeBase supports companies as they move from early traction to scalable growth.
- Build trusted relationships with Growth-stage founders, using your own experience and understanding of scaling businesses to identify their most important challenges and opportunities.
- Design and deliver high-impact founder support, including programmes, mentoring, specialist interventions, peer activity and targeted support.
- Help founders navigate the transition to scalable growth, particularly around repeatable GTM, organisational and leadership development, capital strategy and reducing founder dependency.
- Work closely with our Entrepreneurs in Residence, mentors and wider team, turning founder insight and expertise into interventions that can benefit a wider portfolio of companies.
- Connect founders to the right support at the right time, drawing on CodeBase’s mentor, investor, education, programme and wider ecosystem networks.
- Lead Growth Stage delivery across multiple contracts, ensuring high-quality delivery and effective management of budgets, resources, performance and outcomes, and strong programme governance
- Measure and improve our impact, using data, founder feedback and team insight to understand what is working and where our support needs to evolve.
- Create clear pathways through the founder journey, working with other Heads of Stage to help companies move intentionally through each stage of growth.
- Build strong ecosystem relationships, particularly with founders, investors, operators and partners across Scotland and the wider UK.
- Lead and develop your team, creating clarity, ownership and a high-performance culture.
- Contribute to the wider leadership of the Business Acceleration Team, sharing insight and helping improve how CodeBase supports founders across the business.
