From Javascript to interview scripts: how a background in software engineering helps me be a better UX researcher (Kerry Johnstone)
As a software engineer turned UX researcher, every day I fall back on skills and lessons learned during my time as an engineer. In this talk I’ll share these lessons and show how anyone - ex-engineer or not - can apply them to their UX practice. I’ll also encourage you to interrogate your own career background to understand what lessons it’s taught you that could be valuable to others.

She strongly believes in the power of technology to change lives for the better, and that we all have a role to play in making this a reality. An alumni of the University of Glasgow, Kerry holds a degree in Computing Science with a specialism in Human Computer Interaction In her downtime, she works to extend her Duolingo streak, where she’s learning Scottish Gaelic.
