In this workshop, hosted by Boris Allenou, participants collaborate to create small-scale electronic sound sculptures from repurposed motorized items. Using motors from discarded electronics (DVD players, Old printers, Walkman…) microcontrollers, motor drivers and everyday materials, attendees explore unconventional sound creation, combining circuitry, sensors, movement, vibrations and more. Participants first learn motor control with Arduino boards, then creatively apply this knowledge to bring objects to life. Inspired by sound artists like Rie Nakajima, Pierre Berthet, Frederic Le Junter, Matthew Steinke, and Boris Allenou’s Dynamis project.
Boris Allenou is a musician and creative technologist who mainly explores the limitless forms of Sound Art and Sound Ecology by investigating the social role of sonic Eco-systems surrounding us.His research uses interactive sound installations, talks, workshops, music, radio creations and sound exploration events as mediums to reflect on, propose and conceptualize possible roles, places, meanings, interactions and aesthetics of sounds in our societies.
