Traveltech Futures: Anticipating and Shaping the Next Decade of Travel
Details
Join Traveltech for Scotland and the Edinburgh Futures Institute on Tuesday 30th November to help us imagine possible futures where travel technology can and should make a difference. This is a hybrid event which will take place in-person at CodeBase in Edinburgh, with the event also being streamed online.
Travel and tourism in the next decade will look very different to the last. It has already changed. The pandemic has had a dramatic impact on the global travel industry.
Whatever happens at COP26 in Glasgow, we know that we all need to take immediate practical steps to drastically reduce carbon emissions. This is especially true for those working in the travel and tourism industry.
Travel technology will play an increasingly important role in the coming years. In Scotland, new businesses are already innovating to meet changing traveller expectations for safe and responsible travel.
The huge shifts required to meet net zero targets will present opportunities for entrepreneurs, technologists and researchers to make a meaningful impact.
Is this event for me?
Do you want to take action to shape the future of traveltech? You might already work in the industry, or come from a tech, design or research background. What matters is that you recognise the role that innovation will play in reducing the impact of tourism and travel on the climate.
What will we do?
At the event we will hear rapid talks from three experts to learn about some of the trends shaping travel. Using provocation cards that we have created for this event, we will work in groups (in person or online) to come up with viable future scenarios for the travel industry.
What will happen after the event?
This is the first in a series of events which will help identify opportunities and turn them into proposals. Our aim is to drive innovation in the traveltech industry. We encourage participation from those who want our help in developing ideas and turning them into reality over the next 12-24 months. join us for the complete journey. We have further events planned to help you develop your ideas in response to these future scenarios.
Event joining instructions will follow in due course.
