Come and hear from local businesses and public sector expertise on how to protect your intellectual property.  This is a FREE event ran by the AIMS Project in partnership with Dumfries and Galloway College.

10:05 Scott Davidson, Founder of Radisoft Ltd who has devised a IoT monitoring device and application for boilers.

10:20 Mari Findlay, Interface, who connect organisations to academics, and she will talk about the Innovation Voucher Funding

10:30 Katie Vance founder of Bubble FLO Ltd who has devised a non-sterile paediatric Positive Expiratory Pressure (PEP) device intended to assist children with lifelong respiratory conditions such as Cystic Fibrosis, Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) and Bronchiectasis, to clear excess secretions from their lungs.

10:45 Paul Winstanley, CEO of Censis and Board Chair of Filament STAC, he will be talking about the high applications in technology and PACE.

11:00 Chris Rigby, South of Scotland Enterprise, SoSE, she be sharing some information from The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) who are the official UK government body responsible for intellectual property (IP) rights including patents, designs, trademarks, and copyright.

12:05 Jamie Shovelin, D&G Chamber of Commerce - he will talk about the business backed mentoring scheme.

12:15 Ross Colquhoun, Scottish Enterprise - he will be talking about the SMART: Scotland grant. The SMART: SCOTLAND grant is one of their research and development (R&D) grants that aims to support high-risk, highly ambitious projects. It provides support to conduct feasibility studies.

What is it?

We have some one-to-one sessions with experts from the legal sector to support tech start-up founders on their journey. Participants will be able to engage directly with and receive personalised advice from Jason Teng, Patent Attorney or David Holt, IP Solicitor for Potter Clarkson.

Areas they can cover as part of the office hours include:

  • IP protection and freedom-to-operate

  • Basics of creating an IP strategy

  • Patents and trade secrets

  • Branding

  • Confidentiality

  • Collaboration and licensing agreements

These sessions are for attendees of the IP training event. This is a private meeting between yourself/your team and Jason or David.
