What is it?
Join us in the Abertay cyberQuarter & online via Zoom for a discussion about the personal and professional challenges of being a startup founder. Lara Findlay, our Head of Regional Engagement, and Ian Martin, CodeBase's Head of Startup Experience, will be discussing topics such as stress, work-life balance and co-founders.
What can I expect?
We'll be running this discussion as a hybrid event, meaning you can attend either in-person at the Abertay cyberQuarter or join us online via Zoom. If you've registered for an online ticket or can't make it along in-person on the day, you can join us on Zoom by clicking 'Access Link' under Location above. We will also include a link to the Zoom livestream in an email before the event.
The event will run as a 'fireside chat' where Lara Findlay will talk to our guest speaker about the challenges and opportunities of being a startup founder and the audience will have time to pose questions directly and start a wider conversation.
We'll provide time at the beginning and end of the event for networking with local founders, our speakers, and CodeBase staff in attendance. Tea, coffee and snacks will be available throughout the event and we'll have identified quiet areas for anyone that needs some personal space at any point.
Lara Findlay is the Head of Regional Engagement for CodeBase Dundee & Tayside and is your first point of contact for the region. She's here to help you find the right support through joining the Techscaler community and becoming a Techscaler member, and grow regional participation in the Techscaler programme.
Ian Martin spent his early career creating communication strategies for international clients before co-founding and growing a tech business globally in 2019. Now he's the Head of Startup Experience at CodeBase where he supports other startups and scaleups on their growth journey by leading the service design and membership experience of the ScotGov Techscaler programme.
When and where is it taking place?
This event will be taking place from 18:00 till 20:00 on Thursday 24th of October on the first floor of the Abertay cyberQuarter, located on 1-3 Bell Street, Dundee, DD1 1LH, and online via Zoom.
A member of the CodeBase team will be around to greet in-person attendees in the ground floor lobby next to Annie's Cafe.
Who will be there?

This event is organised by CodeBase and Techscaler and in addition to founders, you will also have the opportunity to chat with the CodeBase team and find out more about how CodeBase and Techscaler can support you.
What is a tech startup founder?
A tech startup founder is someone who has the ambition to create a product or offering with technology at it's core, whether you are pre-startup or have been established for years. All we ask is that you are actively working on a tech product concept and could benefit from spending an evening with other like-minded founders in the area.
Registration
We ask everyone to sign up individually, so we can have an estimate of how many people want to attend and so we know of any accessibility requirements in advance. Please cancel your ticket if you are no longer able to attend.
We will also check-in each person on Eventbrite as they join the event so make sure you've signed up to the event in order to attend!
Tickets are very limited so be sure to register!
