Bring Your Own Grown Up [Stirling]

  • CodeBase Stirling 8-10 Corn Exchange Road Stirling, Scotland, FK8 2HX United Kingdom (map)

What is it?

Join us for an exciting free coding workshop for young and old!

Bring Your Own Grown Up is a workshop designed for young people and their grown ups to work collaboratively across a range of digital challenges that introduce coding in a way that is fun, accessible and rewarding.

Each pair works together to problem solve their way through a series of multi-disciplinary activities, relying on communication and understanding to complete each task. These tasks include topics like basic block coding, video game development, machine learning, an introduction to text-based programming like Python and HTML, and even physical computing.

This type of collaborative coding supports creativity, logical thinking, and concentration, in an environment that allows young people to explore computer programming, while giving grown ups the confidence to participate in, and support, digital learning - demystifying the subject for both young and old.

This is a pilot session and is suitable for ages 8+

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need to bring a laptop or any other equipment?

We have a limited number of laptops available - in this case, sharing a laptop between two or three young people is common. If you'd prefer to work alone, it is recommended that you bring your own laptop.

My kid has never done coding before, can they still attend?

You don't need to be a tech expert to come along or even have your own laptop. Just bring your enthusiasm and creativity and we'll supply the rest.

I’m a parent, can I stay around during the workshop?

Yes please! The purpose of this workshop is for parent and child to work together.
