We are at the start of an AI revolution. EdAI is a community for curious and enthusiastic AI builders to talk about the art of the possible.
The last few years have seen mind-blowing progress in Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques.
We are rapidly moving from buzzwords to reality with the almost daily releases of astonishing AI applications to understand, reason and generate everything from speech and language to images, video and chemical structures.
The art of the possible is being demonstrated by Tesla’s Autopilot, Github CoPilot, AlphaFold, AlghaGo, GPT3/ChatGPT, DALL-E, VALL-E, DeepFaceLab, InstructPix2Pix etc.
The next few years are going to be marked by an AI revolution across old and new industries. Huge and impactful businesses are going to be built on AI as a platform technology which will undoubtedly become part of everyday life.
Our aim for the EdAI meet-up is simple: we want to bring together a community of curious and enthusiastic AI builders to talk about the future of what’s possible.
Everyone is welcome. We want as many perspectives as possible, and we will keep talks interesting for technical and non-technical audiences alike. We hope to cover a broad range of topics including everything from AI opportunities, applications, data, product management, startups, research, and engineering to law, policy and ethics.
This is our first ever EdAI meet-up, so we’re looking for more speakers and to learn what works for the audience. Please let us know how we can make the event better!

18:45 - 19:15 - State-of-the-art in AI speech and language processing products
Rob Macrae: Speech and language AI is having huge impact across consumer tech. In this talk Rob will talk how he has been building these products at scale, and where we're headed next. [ Rob has worked in the AI industry for over 12 years. He completed a PhD in music tech in 2010 and moved to Silicon Valley where he worked in the early team at Soundhound, a major speech and language AI tech company who built a speech command platform used by millions of people daily. More recently he was part of the Siri team at Apple and worked on Siri’s interpretation and text-to-speech capabilities. Now, Rob is bringing together state-of-the-art techniques to build an AI-enabled startup of his own.
19:15 - 19:45 - A friendly introduction to Image Generation with Stable Diffusion
Pablo López Santori: Stable Diffusion is behind many of the latest mind-blowing image generation AI models. In this talk Pablo will give a high-level overview of the inner workings of Stable Diffusion for generating images using text. [ Pablo is a Machine Learning Engineer with experience in developing Computer Vision and Natural Language Processing models. He currently works as an MLOps engineer developing end-to-end machine learning pipelines to streamline model development. He has a diverse background outside of machine learning having worked as a Salesperson and a Chef.
