Join us for the first Edinburgh Medtech Forum where we bring together healthcare, medtech and healthtech professionals from around Edinburgh

About this event

You’ll have the opportunity to get to know other members of the Edinburgh Medtech community, as well as hear from some guest speakers from the industry and enjoy some light refreshments.

This event is open to anyone interested in Medtech, but we’d particularly like to encourage the following to join us:

  1. Allied healthcare professionals, including NHS colleagues

  2. Primary care and acute hospital trusts

  3. Biomedical and Computer science students/graduates

  4. Existing spin-outs from Universities or the NHS

  5. Existing Medtech startups

What does Medtech mean?

Technology within healthcare has a broad scope but we will focus on three core areas which encapsulate our definition of Medtech:

Healthtech:

Improving better delivery, payment, and/or consumption of care: software, databases, applications, mobile devices, and wearables.

Medtech:

Diagnosis, patient care, treatment, and improvement of a person’s health. Mostly used in hospitals; oriented toward diagnosing and treatment vs prevention (typically regulated): equipment, devices, machines, software, and tools.

TechBio:

Using cutting-edge techniques from data-driven tech to transform drug discovery and patient care. This interface of biology and technology is often referred to as “techbio".
